Ah. Hmm. Well. I had already nuked the test partitions on the test machine, but I've just re-created some and ... it's missing the last one?
But then ... look at those two 'DD' icons on the bar... IDETool let me accidentally create two drives both called "DD" (I wasn't paying attention)... so something in your code looks like it's getting upset with that?
I'll re-partition and try again anyway.

Noticed a little UI bug... if you start dragging the "Progress" window, and keep hold of it until the main window's appeared, then it stays onscreen forever.

That sounds like a bug in WindowManager, it looks like the Wimp_CloseWindow request is being ignored or dropped. I'll have to try and create a repro and report it to ROOL.

Looking at the debug log, it read the boot block of the 2nd 'DD' but must have been missing the magic word so wasn't a valid partition. My code stops at the first non-valid partition.

As IDEFS picked up all the partitions, it would imply I'm not parsing the linked partitions correctly. I'll alter the debug output and we'll have to recreate the problem to see what's in the 2nd 'DD' boot block.

I'm not sure what the value is in the 4th word. HCCS uses the first nibble from it, the Simtec also checks bits 4 and 8 and passes the whole word to IDEFS_SetDriveConfig in R1.

IDEFS_SetDriveConfig R1 bit 1 might be a flag for non-ADFS partition regions. bit 2 appears to be related to IRQ being disabled. bits 24-31 affect the IDE transfer mode.

Does !IDETool let you create non-ADFS partitions? If so, create one and grab the logs - I'd expect word 4 to be non-zero.

I'd say based on this new info, it looks like HCCS has the first IDEFS written by Andy Armstrong. He later modified IDEFS for the Simtec, with a more fleshed out SWI interface and additional features.

IDETool has nothing to do with ADFS at all - it's purely for the Simtec podules.

Ooh. Er, well, I'm not exactly sure what that really means, but there are no options other than partition sizes (and a few tweaks regarding 'long cable mode') -- I'm not sure what non-FileCore would even be? RISCiX? Even if you chose the "don't erase/initialise" option, you still get a filesystem on any new partition.

FAT would be the obvious, but it clearly doesn't offer any choices.

Could you try selecting "Don't automount" on a partition and grab the logs please. I suspect that's one of the bits I'm after.
