Re: S.W.I.V. (1992) (Krisalis Software)
I seem to have an issue running this one, the game appears to load no problem but it loads straight into the game and both the helicopter and the Jeep are in play (not sure this is correct, should it be a choice of either or?) or is this just a demo playing before the actual game?
Also, the helicopter is constantly firing and will not move in any direction even after I have defined the keys?
This looks a good shoot ‘em up and am keen to have a play but just can’t seem to get it to actually play.
Trying this on an A3010, 4mb, ADFFS 2.73.
Many thanks for any advice

Re: S.W.I.V. (1992) (Krisalis Software)
I'd guess the game has detected a Joystick. Do you have any Joystick Modules loaded?
If you run the game directly from the floppy, it doesn't load JoyMod. If you use Boot Floppy via ADFFS, it will load JoyMod and attempt to support Joysticks. Which method are you using to run the game?

Re: S.W.I.V. (1992) (Krisalis Software)
I am using Boot floppy via ADFFS.
I have listed the modules (F12>*modules) and can see a module listed for joystick (37. 039085AC 0180F504 Joystick).
I would assume disabling the module may make the game work correctly?…..next question, how would I do that?!
Many thanks
Paul

Re: S.W.I.V. (1992) (Krisalis Software)
Is it the RMkill command?
Re: S.W.I.V. (1992) (Krisalis Software)
It is RMKill, but I suspect its JoyMod falsely detecting a Joystick on the Econet port.
You have three choices:
You have three choices:
- Run the game directly from its icon, avoiding the boot script
- Edit !ADFFS.obey.F1035901 and comment out the line that loads JoyMod
- Rename !ADFFS.extras.JoyMod and replace it with an innocuous Module. Copy LZWD as JoyMod for example
Re: S.W.I.V. (1992) (Krisalis Software)
Its checking for RTFM on the Econet port correctly, so please confirm if it is the Module causing the issue by using one of the methods above.

Hi Jon
Success!
I was a bit nervous about running the game from the icon as the advice tends to be use !boot floppy or risk causing damage……so I ran the icon, defined the keys and was up and running!
Thanks for your help on this, I am slowly getting into putting games onto my A3010 so I may be back with more questions!
Cheers

Re: S.W.I.V. (1992) (Krisalis Software)
Hi,
Thanks for all the hard work archiving these classics - I can now get this to run with ADFFS 2.80 on my RISC PC with RiscOS 3.7 Arm 610 and 32mb ram, but it runs really fast! I've tried changing screen resolutions before running it in case it is something to do with screen frequency, but it doesn't have any effect. Is there anything I can try to slow it down?
Thanks for any advice
