Odd.

What version of Cataclysm is it and what's the machine spec?

It's the version from the Archimedes Archive. Machine is A3020 4MB.

I can't reproduce this as it works okay for me.

I assuming you did rename the floppy images, so the last filename character is the disk number?

Yes, disk 1 is named "Cataclysm1", disk 2 is "Cataclysm2".

I managed to fix this. When changing to disk 2, after pressing Ctrl+Shift+F2, after the egg timer appears and disappears you then have to press Space. There's nothing indicating that you have to press a key. However, there seems to be someone else's progress / high scores present in the version on the archive I linked to. Is there any change you could share the blank high score file so I can start from scratch? Or maybe there is a file I can delete and the game will recreate the file when loading?

I could have sworn I posted a follow up to this issue...obviously not

After a lot of testing I managed to track this issue down to a problem with ScreenSize. Under specific scenarios ScreenSize isn't reduced to the specific size required by the game. In the case of the original release of Cataclysm, that causes the "Insert disc 2" to appear on a video framebuffer you can't see. Mind you, it still doesn't tell you that you have to press SPACE.

It's fixed in ADFFS 2.83, which I'm working towards releasing in conjunction with all the Software 42 games.

I'd have to investigate. I have a few copies of the game so will see if there's a blank highscore on one of them.

EDIT: Blank highscore attached. Overwrite the file on disc 2

Many thanks!

There is one other small thing I notice with ADFFS when creating disk images, I get this corruption on the iconbar:
