Hi Jon,
I'm having some real issues getting !ADFFS v.270 to run on my RISC PC - StrongARM, 2MB VRAM, using a spinning rust ADFS HDD, but ADFS patched with our little discovery a bout 2 years back!
I've linked some images below:

Errors - !ADFFS v2.70 on StrongARM RISC PC runinng 4.39
Re: Errors - !ADFFS v2.70 on StrongARM RISC PC runinng 4.39
Thanks for the bug report. Image 7 indicates it's loaded ADFFS450 instead of ADFFS400, which will fail horribly. If you want to see if loading the correct version fixes things, modify !Loader.
Due to a lack of testers, ADFFS hasn't been tested on a RiscPC for quite a few builds, so I'm expecting lots of issues. We only ever test up to RISC OS 3.71 though, as RISC OS 4 has some fundamental issues that break the majority of games.

Re: Errors - !ADFFS v2.70 on StrongARM RISC PC runinng 4.39
Just to confirm, there is a typo in !ADFFS.!Loader where it's loading the 32bit version of ADFFS if the RISC OS version is > 4.19 - it should be checking against 4.39
Replace all occurrences of &41900 with &43900 for the time being. It's now fixed for the next release.

Cheers Jon I'll fix it as soon as I can get through ADFing my (legal!) !OvationPro floppies.
As I've said before I'm more than happy to help test beta versions - although I'm currently running 4.39 in ROM and occasionally softload into 6.20 the end game plan is to get everything on that single HDD so I can image it, or even copy it across to VirtualRPC to use a ShareFS server.
I'll then swap the RISC PC down to 3.71 in ROM and swap back to ARM610 when required.

Didn't work sorry!
Re: Errors - !ADFFS v2.70 on StrongARM RISC PC runinng 4.39
What didn't work?
I tried the JIT on a RiscPC with RISC OS 3.71 earlier and it looks like that's broken, but floppy image access and non-JIT games should be okay.
On RISC OS 4, you'll only get floppy image access to work, as the way it handles screen memory isn't backward compatible and there's no way to correct it in software without rewriting parts of the OS.
My advice for a gaming RiscPC would be to use 3.7x ROMS and softload 4/6 or 5 when you want to use it for non-gaming. You can only ever softload a newer version of the OS, you can't downgrade via softload. I posted the tools to do this on StarDot if you want them.

Re: Errors - !ADFFS v2.70 on StrongARM RISC PC runinng 4.39
The only problem is the newer version of Filecore. Without it it makes 40GB HDDs use 35GB of space instead of 5GB, no long filenames and loss of access to + formatted floppies.
Re: Errors - !ADFFS v2.70 on StrongARM RISC PC runinng 4.39
Actually reading your post could you put the patch onto a floppy and boot from that, to remove the requirements of 2 HDDs?
Normally wouldn't be an issue but my IDEFS podule died and is currently with Dave Hitchens to see if she can be saved,

Could I even network boot via ShareFS on a Vitual RISC PC/A5000 which then loads?
Re: Errors - !ADFFS v2.70 on StrongARM RISC PC runinng 4.39
I'm not sure what you mean, my softimage boot sequence I linked too updates FileCore on the older OS to backport long filename support.
Not really, as you need the RISC OS ROM image to load before FileCore can be patched. Throwing in a small FAT formatted SSD/SD etc is the easiest option and use it solely for the boot time OS selection. That's how I've done it at any rate, which allows me to boot to all versions from 3.70 thru 6.x and the latest 5.x - all with long filename support.
