Re: Exodus [32bit version] (2018) (JASPP)
I've just tried this on a Raspberry Pi 3b+. Latest stable RISC OS 5 ROM image.
It gets to the ARTEX loading screen, and then shows a planet picture, and then exits.
What can I do to help debug this?

Probably very little unless you start hacking around with the code to figure out where it's failing. I don't recall which MODE it requires, if your Pi doesn't support the one it wants that could that be the cause? Try running it with ADFFS loaded, or if you already have ADFFS running, try completely quitting ADFFS to rule it out.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the reply. I did not think ADFFS would be needed, because it's the 32-bit version. So I've not tried with it yet. I'll test that tomorrow.
I posted more information in the ROOL thread here: https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums ... osts-98026
AnyMode didn't help; it made it fail to display anything after leaving the desktop.

From that description, I'd say your Pi doesn't support the MODE(s) the game needs. Configure your Pi as per the ADFFS requirments (on the ADFFS download page) and if that doesn't fix it, running ADFFS in the background hopefully should. You will need to disable GPU mode change support for any games to work correctly on a Pi.tlsa1 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 10:43 pm Thanks for the reply. I posted more information in the ROOL thread...May be relevant: When Exodus starts, the ARTEX logo is over to the left side of the screen, and then the planet is in the top left, with another tiled copy of the same to the right of it. Maybe my 1920×1080 LCD doesn’t like the mode?
ADFFS isn't required to run the game, but it does add legacy MODE support which might be required...I don't recall which screen modes the game uses, I'll check and update the description.

Thanks for the reply!
With that "disable_mode_changes" command line option set, and AnyMode running, I now get further. The ARTEX logo shows centered correctly, and the planet appears pixel-by-pixel as it should. The text from the intro comes up e.g. "civilization has failed", and then the screen changes from the first plant screen of the intro to the second scene, which is mostly in red. At this point it stops doing anything, and pressing any key returns me to the desktop.

Did you try my previous suggestion? Remove AnyMode and load !ADFFS to enable legacy mode support.
