Code: Select all

Internal error: address exception at &03873B74
It's now fixed in the ADFFS 2.86 beta, to fix in 2.85 you just need to replace !ADFFS.imaging.wimp

Wasn't sure where to post this, so I will post it here: would it be possible for you to detail the contents / dir structure of disc 2 for X-Fire? I recently won it in an eBay auction, however, disc 2 is completely dead - "Disc not formatted" error. I also have the APDL version on my hard drive, but that is a later release that was presumably patched to run on RISC PC. I bought the original version off eBay because the APDL version has flickering graphics, even with *CACHE OFF. I am therefore wondering if I can reconstruct disc 2 using files from the APDL version, but to do that I need to know what files should be on disc 2. Can you help?

Alternatively, is there a file (or files) I can copy from my original disc 1 onto the APDL install that would prevent the flickering?

I have checked my disk 2 for X-Fire, it should be an unprotected disk, so you should be able to attempt reformatting it and trying to copy data back to it.
My disk 2 has the following folders in the root.
a, b, c, d, e, i, r and t

Thanks for the info. The physical disc wouldn't format, but I was able to make an ADF image and use that as disc 2. The APDL version automatically loads the full game without having to swap discs, so if anyone knows how to fix the flickering in the APDL version, perhaps by using files from the original disc 1, then please let me know.

If you're unsure where to post, the best place is in the General area.

Sadly X-Fire isn't one I can release as I've yet to track down any of the developers. I've also not seen the APDL version so can't comment on that particular release.

The original release does have a few issues, such as problems with it's protection and Page Zero access, but I've not looked at it beyond getting it running on a Pi.

When you say the APDL version, do you mean the one on the Shootem Up CD?

If so I have that and it works fine on a physical machine without flickering for me.

Yes, that's the one I am referring to. What model Archimedes are you running it on? I am using an A5000 Alpha and I get lots of sprite flickering on the main menu screens even when I disable the cache.
