Hi, when I start Sensible Soccer (ADFFS 2.72 / boot with floppy), game doesn't show any intro.
It immediately asks disk 2, and when inserted (ctrl+shift+F2), menu appears.
However I can't choose anything. Shouldn't it be possible although I haven't got joystick?
If I click game's icon in desktop instead of ADFFS's boot with floppy, game's intro appears. However I don't know how to change to disk 2 if game has been started this way.

Cheers,

Pasi

It sounds like there's an issue with the boot script under RISC OS 3.1x, I'll test and get back to you.

The issue is the game defaults to Joystick controls if the Joystick driver is loaded. Edit !ADFFS.obey.F1032601 and remove the two lines that load the Joystick driver:

Code: Select all

IF ADFFS$OSVersion<&50000 THEN Set JSflag 1
IF ADFFS$OSVersion<&50000 THEN RMLoad ADFFS:extras.JoyMod

Many thanks Jon! I edited obey-file and was able to play Sensi Soccer with keyboard.

Cheers,

Not sure if this relates to the problem above, but I can't get Sensible Soccer to play using the keyboard and if I use a joystick, a game becomes unplayable after the (computer) opponent scores. Basically, the joystick becomes unresponsive and I can't kick-off again.

I tried using the above answer to enable keyboard use, but cannot find those exact same lines in my !ADFFS.obey.F1032601 file.

I'm using the latest release of ADFFS with the most recent version of RISC OS PI from RISC OS Open with a Raspberry Pi 3 model B(+).

Sorry, I'll add the game to my list that need a bugfix applied.

It's lines 25/26 in the script, but for a Pi it might be easier to "RMKill USBJoystick" before running the game. If you don't use a Joystick you can comment the line out in !ADFFS.!Run (line 45) that loads USBJoystick.

Thanks, Jon. All works as suggested. Only issue is now my end... My Keychron Q9 keyboard lacks a numeric keypad, which I presume Sensible Soccer utilises! I'll have to wait until the joystick bug is fixed to get my Sensi kicks. :)
