Beer for Christmas

Post by yannos »

Jon,

Great work you're doing to stop some well loved and important code from disappearing, not to mention the nostalgia! (for me Chocks Away is the big one. I remember pulling all nighters with my brother on it).

Is there any way to make a donation as a thanks and to buy you a beer for Christmas?

Glad you appreciate what the project is doing. If you wish to donate, we don't accept money, but I'm always happy to accept any boxed originals that the project doesn't already have. Blitz is one I'm particularly after at the moment as the project submission is missing the disc protection.

Jon,

Did you ever get hold of a working copy of Blitz?

I can't find my original disc, box etc., and suspect that it's gone forever, however I do have a working copy that was copied using Investigator II or III back in the day. I'm happy to grab an image of it if you still need it. It's perhaps worth noting that both Blitz and Bambuzle used the same copy protection so if you have either original (or properly copied) disc, both games will work if the disc is in the floppy drive and the game is run from HDD/RAM.

No, not received any working copies of it.

Yes, please try imaging it with the JFD imager in ADFFS, I believe I added the protection sectors into the recording.

If I remember correctly, the protection read code off the disc.

As of writing (June 2019) this page has had 1488 views. Time to open a “Send a beer to Jon” page? Happy to send a herbal tea donation if that’s your preference.

In the meantime for anyone interested bounties exist for RISC OS itself.

Jon, I have a boxed copy of 3D Construction Kit. I thought it was pretty common but it’s not on the list of software that the project has. Would you like it?

Yes, I would love a copy of 3D Construction Kit so I can get it archived fully.

John, apologies I didn’t mean to ghost you there. I’m just looking to copy some acorn discs with projects I made in 3D construction kit some 25 years ago. Im looking for a solution to image ADFS discs - I don’t have a computer with a FDD controller. When I’ve managed it, the 3D construction kit is yours.

No problem. If you get really stuck, send then to me and I'll image them to ADF for you.
