Running ADFs

Hi Jon, love the app you've made, used it for ages. I have a quick question though, I have downloaded a few ADFs from another site and they are on the list you've made that says it's compatible with the current version but when I put the ADFs to &FCE file type and try and 'boot' them, nothing happens? Am I doing something wrong?

Only JFD's can be booted, which contain metadata. You could try manually running the boot script for the game in question, they're contained in !ADFFS.Obey

I also love the app - thanks so much for it. Like the OP, I'm running a Nevryon ADF which I use the boot script from Obey - F1026101 Nevryon (1990) (The Fourth Dimension) - it all works fine until it gets to actually starting the game when it report:

Code: Select all

Internal error: abort on data transfer at &01166740
And drops to a command prompt. The music is still paying. I can't seem to find any commands that work other than "QUIT" which stops the music, removes the prompt and apparently makes the Pi unresponsive.

I'm new to ADFFS so might be doing something very rookie wrong but I've trawled the forums and can't pin down what that might be. I did install Anymode even though the installation instructions for v2.72 doesn't specify it as a requirement as I was getting duplicated screens without it.

Any ideas why that should happen? Thanks

Edit: Might be useful to know I'm running ADFFS 2.72 on RISC OS 5.24. Thanks

I suspect the version you're using is different to the version the script is for, or the script is possibly patching a bug in the game which is different with your version. I'll check the script and confirm.

There's boot scripts for two versions of Nevryon, are you using the correct one?

Bare in mind the scripts are for use with original protected versions of games, not hacked/cracked versions, which may or may not be part of the issue here.
