Synopsis
Whether you want to write a simple adventure to amuse your friends and family or a major game to full professional standards, ALPS will allow you to do it with the minimum of fuss. It includes all you need in one easy-to-use Desktop package. You can create your own imaginary landscape of rooms, streets, forest glades and dank dungeons using the Room Editor. Populate the landscape with objects and creatures entered with the Object Editor. The Text Editor is used to enter all location and object descriptions and other messages used in the game. It has useful features such as Cut, Copy and Paste, and insert and delete modes that make text entry easy.
Your game will be able to analyse and act on complete sentences, including adjectives and conjunctions, such as Take everything except the green book then put the red book in the bag and go north. The flexibility of ALPS will allow you complete control over the events in the game. You are not forced to adhere to a particular type of game: if you want a traditional adventure with caves and trolls, a modern detective caper or a futuristic science fiction theme, the choice is yours; the only limit will be your imagination. Anyone playing your games will find them particularly easy to use, thanks to the unique mouse input system.
Common commands can be chosen from icons at the bottom of the screen and words can be selected from the text by simply pointing to the word and clicking the select button. Most of the game can be played without touching the keyboard, though this can be used too, if the user insists!
