Feedback from Will Ling

A5000 is 512 MB CF card, formatted down, reports size correcly, but says format is unrecognised
RiscPC, Free says disk is 10GBytes; PartMgr reports 12.72GB unallocated

Iyonix - two 80GB discs, one is formatted down as it has half allocated as ext2
Free reports size as 76Gbytes and 38GBytes, PartMgr reports both 76.33 GB unallocated

I get missing variable on line 360 when I run v0.83 - looks like a trailing AND before ENDPROC. I removed that and appears to run fine.

Using 0.84 on a 64GB SD card running RISC OS 5.28 on a RPi 3B I've got 2GB volume for the OS, in the massive remaining space I attempted to create a new volume of 10,000MB to see if I could mount it somehow. I followed all the default settings apart from set it to not be bootable and then clicked Format. Progress bar started but then reported: Internal error: abort on data transfer at &FC1AAE58 in "Formats.FileCore" at line -2. Now whenever I restart PartMgr on this set up it fails on startup reporting that same error. Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: Reading up it sounds like I'm jumping the gun if filecore doesn't support partitioned discs - https://www.riscosopen.org/wiki/documen ... 0SD%20card

As you've noted, RISC OS doesn't yet support partitioning. About the best you can currently do is create a FAT partition and use FAT32FS to mount it as a drive.

Could you turn on debugging please (edit !RunImage and set DEBUG%=TRUE), recreate the Abort and then upload DEBUG/TXT so I can see what triggered it.

Managed to upload zipped logs, the forum refused text files.

This time I tried creating a FAT volume in the spare space on the SD card, it seemed to progress for much longer initialising it compared to when creating a FileCore volume but then failed in the same way as when doing 'Identifying Partitions' and again now fails to load with that error every time I run the application. debug1/txt is the original attempt, debug2/txt when I start the application now.

Where I've been modifying and testing IDEFS support on a RISC PC, I've managed to break MBR partitioning and FileCore detection on the Pi. I'll fix the issues and upload 0.85 soon

0.84 doesn't seem to recognise Unipod (Simtec) IDEFS at all? I thought previous versions did - am I mistaken?
0.84 blows up with SWI unknown at wimp library line 1135 ... Wimp_ResizeIcon. I seems you require new windowmanager - that's a pain (particularly since UniBoot providing new WIMP won't leave enough space on a 2MB machine to even run it!) (Should probably *RMEnsure that in !Run, then...)
0.84 blows up with "No such function/procedure in FS.IDEFS at line 395" on an A5000 with Wizzo+ZIDEFS (DEBUG% is default FALSE so maybe this multi-IF line isn't being interpreted as you expected?

SimTec isn't fully implemented yet. It will detect the Podule and drives, but partition support hasn't been added yet. If you turn debugging on, you should see it going through the motions in DEBUG/TXT

I've recoded it to use native RO3 Wimp calls.

Replacing the "ELSE" with "ELSE IF DEBUG% THEN" should hopefully fix it. I've altered the line in 0.85, but not tested

On the memory footprint front, I'll run the code through BasComp when its closer to "final", to reduce it down from the 400K it currently requires.

0.85 seems to work fine again on the Pi and can create a FAT partition without it failing.

I've tried mounting the partition (named HardDisk2) with FAT32FS with
*FAT32FS:Mount HardDisk2
*Filer_OpenDir FAT32FS::HardDisk2.$
but on the second command get 'Error when reading FAT32FS::HardDisk2.$ - could not open file system' so not sure if I'm holding it wrong or the partition is duff as I haven't used FAT32FS before.
