Should we use shims for all OS versions?

We obviously don't need to use shims for RO3.1, as the trackers are designed to work with it, there are however advantages around timing when using QTM.
The only downside I can see is increased memory usage, which probably isn't an issue anyhow as we need 4mb to mount images anyhow.
