That fixed it! <Obey$Dir>.VoxLib
I can't seem to recreate the issue, but have been through the code, tidied it up and found/fixed a bug that was in the original Module. Could you see if the attached VoxLib works.

Re: Alone in the Dark (1995) (Krisalis Software)

The other thing it could be (from memory, I might be wrong) is VoxLib, try changing it to load the version that comes with the game, instead of the 26/32bit neutral version from ADFFS:trackers

Re: Alone in the Dark (1995) (Krisalis Software)

You can slow it down by holding CTRL, pause by holding SHIFT-CTRL or output to a file:

Code: Select all

*MODULES { > adfs::4.$.filename }
Try commenting out the MEMORYA lines in !Run, to see if they're causing the issue. Comment the lines with a |

Re: Alone in the Dark (1995) (Krisalis Software)

It's not ZIDEFS, but a Module that's softloaded.

Drop out of the Desktop (CTRL-SHIFT-F12 twice) and manually run !Alone, you should then hopefully be able to do a *MODULES after the crash, to find exactly where the exception is occurring.

Internal error : address exception at &0182CEE8
Type *MODULES and figure out which Module is generating the exception, then work out the offset within it, if it's one of the ADFFS Modules.

When I try to launch this from a fresh download on my StrongARM RISC OS 4.39 RiscPC, it crashes with the following message:
Illegal header in field module
The RO4 service table wasn't terminated correctly in ADFFSFiler, a corrected build is attached.

Re: Games that have Manual or wheel/chart based protection

it complains it cannot find "IfThere" which seems to be called by that Obey script? Your !Boot is missing some of the later additions, in this case !Boot.Library.IfThere . Either replace it with UniBoot2 or manually copy the missing bits from UniBoot2. IfThere is built into later OS versions and wa...

Re: How do I install and use ADFFS

It will, provided your monitor supports legacy resolutions and you have the correct entries in your monitor MDF.

You'd be better off with a Pi for gaming, due to its upscaler.

Re: Sensible Soccer (1993) (Renegade)

Hi, when I start Sensible Soccer (ADFFS 2.72 / boot with floppy), game doesn't show any intro. It immediately asks disk 2, and when inserted (ctrl+shift+F2), menu appears. However I can't choose anything. Shouldn't it be possible although I haven't got joystick? The issue is the game defaults to Jo...

Re: Sensible Soccer (1993) (Renegade)

It sounds like there's an issue with the boot script under RISC OS 3.1x, I'll test and get back to you.
