Re: Resurrecting the original ArcVenture series

In terms of other Sherston titles - I have spoken with Simon Hosler and unfortunately he doesn't have any of his old discs - he will be chasing his brother about the Aztecs program - I think Dave Hope may have de-protected the Victorians program which I think was Simon's. As of last month, Sherston ...

Re: Resurrecting the original ArcVenture series

Hi Jon, Hope you are well - I think we are finally getting there - with the help of Dave Hope I have an unprotected version (and full original pack) of ArcVenture 1,3 and 4 - AV1 works on Arculator, 3 and 4 work on RPCEmu - so maybe a little work still to do - still looking for AV2 The Egyptians pac...

Re: Resurrecting the original ArcVenture series

Thanks Jon - I don't think I will be able to get out for the show but I should be ok with imaging - if I can get a disc set without the need for reading a zapped sector - that's the main problem at the moment. If I could find network versions that would solve that I think. I have pinged a msg to the...

Re: Resurrecting the original ArcVenture series

A bit more progress :) - I now have an un-protected version of Arcventure 1 The Romans working under emulation - and also the Vikings demo running in RPCEmu on the Raspberry Pi 3b - Unfortunately my A3000 turned out to be beyond repair without several replacement parts so I think my next step is to ...

Re: Resurrecting the original ArcVenture series

BTW I have tracked down Simon Hosler (Viewpoints, Crystal Rain Forest etc) on facebook and sent him a msg - but no reply yet - I'll see if I can contact him some other way.

Re: Resurrecting the original ArcVenture series

Yep - I've tried on a RaspberryPi running Riscos - splat :( - I think it's only going to run on Riscos 3 - I was getting errors about running in 32bit mode and screen modes etc. What I may do is re-write the engine to run in an HTML5 canvas and use as many of the original assets as possible - simple...

Re: Resurrecting the original ArcVenture series

Getting there - little by little - this is in an emulator and works perfectly - it's the demo version so unprotected - so hopefully this will move me forward with getting the others in a state they can be used again - fingers crossed. https://youtu.be/5crT0mNIrEw

Re: Resurrecting the original ArcVenture series

Hi Jon, The ones that I coded were all the ArcVenture series (Romans, Egyptians, Vikings and Anglo Saxons) - also Voyage of Discovery - The early ones were in Basic but the later ones in C. I will need to find the contract but I think the copyright of the programmes reverts to the authors after 20 y...

Resurrecting the original ArcVenture series

Hi, I am having a go at getting my ArcVenture series (Sherston Software) working under RISCOS on the Raspberry Pi - I'm currently using disc images on emulators to start picking through the code - the main problems being that they were all protected discs with a zapped sector - I am trying to get th...
