Accessing a legacy floppy disk without Archimedes

Post by mrmouse »

Hi there. Back in around 1992, I wrote my own game for the Archimedes (we had an A3000 back then). It was a Tetris style game called DropShaft written in Basic and, from memory, had some funky music and scrolling text (of which I was very proud) on the high score page! I've carefully kept the floppy disk all these years (complete with hand drawn label) and I'd love to see it running again on an Emulator or on my Raspberry Pi. Trouble is, all I have is the floppy disk - I've got no hardware at all that can read it. How do I go about transferring the data off the disk?! Many thanks in advance...

You either need to find someone with an Arc or RiscPC, or image it with OmniFloppy on a PC with a floppy. You will not be able to image it with a USB floppy, as they have a fixed sector size.

Ok, thanks. I think I did try a few years back with a USB floppy and found that didn't work. Unfortunately, these days there aren't many computers around with floppy drives. Hmmm...

I'm very late here, but if you still need help and are willing to post the disk(s) I could image it for you.

The floppy has now been imaged. At some point we'll release it, once its been tidied by @mrmouse
