Re: Wolfenstein 3D [32bit version] (2018) (JASPP)
I eventually returned to this, and I think I've worked it out. The original game detected the CPU. If you have an ARM2 it disables the in-game music option. Otherwise in-game music was enabled by default. The in-game music halves the frame rate on an ARM2. I've got a patched WolfExe that works as I ...

Re: I'm new here - n00b questions
I’m assuming it’s an FM/MFM bitstream, so the data would also need encoding appropriately. Yes I manually encoded to the data, sector headers etc as MFM for the .HFE. And yeh I'm using ISOIBM_MFM_ENCODING, which is per-file not per-track in .HFE files. However I get the impression that flag may not...

Re: I'm new here - n00b questions
Thanks again. I've tried a few other games with simple protection like Gods and they seem to work.
I'd need to work-out how to express a single desntiy track in .HFE for Magic Pockets to stand a chance, it may be beyond me.
It's been fun messing with this so far, many thanks Jon.

Re: I'm new here - n00b questions
If it's any help, I've documented the protection methods that I've come across. I can't follow the link to that document, I get this: You are not authorised to read this forum. If you look at the link above Magic Pockets doesn't have duplicate sectors, it uses the "R.A. North" protection ...

Re: I'm new here - n00b questions
I'll continue having a go at writing a .JDF back to a disk then I created a .HFE from the .JFD for both Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 and Sim City. I 'burnt' those to real floppies using a Greaseweazle, and they both worked fine it seems. Next I tried Magic Pockets. The game started to load but then aske...

Re: I'm new here - n00b questions
Would it be OK if I were to have a stab at making such converters? It'll take me many months due to limited time and having a lot to learn, but it feels like something I could realistically contribute Of course, ADFFS isn't suitable for machines with less than 4mb of RAM, so converters are useful f...

Re: Wolfenstein 3D [32bit version] (2018) (JASPP)
perhaps the source code was modified before it reached me, to be more geared towards a RiscPC with more ram. That seems likely as I have a boxed version, but sadly it's a later release with strong ARM support. It does run on an A3000, but with the music screwed up and it runs at a snails pace! Also...

Re: Wolfenstein 3D [32bit version] (2018) (JASPP)
Nope, sadly I'm stuck on a similar error screen saying
That feels like the most promising error, but however I tweak the min memory options or low memory setting I can't get past that it seems
Code: Select all
Unable to allocate resource table
